Greek Shepherd Dogs, also known as Greek Sheepdogs or Hellenic Shepherds, are a large and courageous breed originally bred in Greece for their working abilities as livestock guardians and protectors.
They typically weigh between 75 to 115 pounds and stand 24 to 28 inches tall at the shoulder. With a muscular and sturdy build, they have a thick and long double-coat of fur that is typically white or a light tan color.
As a working breed, Greek Shepherd Dogs are highly intelligent, loyal, and protective of their territory and family. They make excellent guard dogs and are used for herding and protecting sheep, goats, and other livestock. Their natural instincts make them ideal for guarding large areas and they are often used to protect military bases and other critical infrastructure.
These dogs thrive in outdoor environments and require regular exercise and mental stimulation to remain healthy and happy. They are generally low-maintenance when it comes to grooming and have a lifespan of approximately 10 to 12 years.
